2019 – 2020
Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) is procuring a New Intercity Fleet (NIF) to service the Central Coast and Newcastle, Blue Mountains and South Coast areas. The procurement will be for a fleet of 55.5 x two unit trains with the intention to increase the fleet to 100 trains to cater for future growth approaching 2036.
Currently intercity trains are maintained at Flemington Maintenance Centre and stabled at locations including Flemington, Eveleigh, Mount Victoria, Lithgow, Gosford, Broadmeadow, Newcastle, Port Kembla and Wollongong.
The New Intercity Fleet requires a 24/7 maintenance facility for the receiving, testing, commissioning and maintaining of the trains at Kangy Angy near Ourimbah between Gosford and Wyong.
John Holland Pvt Ltd is the main contractor for the project, responsible for building the overall fleet maintenance facility at Kangy Angy. John Holland has engaged Ansaldo STS (A Hitachi Group Company) to design and implement a portion of the signalling system for the facility.
Omada Rail Systems has been contracted by Hitachi to assist in the delivery of the design and implementation of the signalling system
